Eligibility criteria for admission in U.G. Courses:

Admission criteria, In-take capacity etc. shall be governed according to the guidelines issued by the Government of West Bengal and Vidyasagar University as applicable time to time. Proposed basic admission criteria applicable only for UG Admission for session 2023-24 with respect to introduction of CCFUP are as follows:

 

  1. Candidate passing Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent board/council are eligible for admission in the undergraduate programmes with Single Major and Multidisciplinary Studies under CCFUP within 3 (Three) consecutive academic sessions (i,e 2023/2022/2021) from the date of passing the qualifying examination. However, a candidate passing 10+2 level Examination before 2021 with above mentioned criteria can also apply after getting special permission from the Secretary, UG Council of Vidyasagar University, Paschim Medinipur.
  2. Candidate passing Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) from Vocational stream conducted by the respective Board/ Council for vocational studies or any other equivalent board/council are eligible for admission in the undergraduate programmes in Multidisciplinary Studies only within 3 (Three) consecutive academic sessions from the date of passing the qualifying examination.
  3. Candidate must have passed in 5 (Five) recognized subjects (excluding Environmental Studies) including at least one language subject in the qualifying examination.
  4. Students who have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks in the Aggregate (to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in ‘Best Five’ subjects excluding Environmental Studies) along with pass in the subject/related subject or 50% marks in the subject or related subject are eligible to apply for admission in the Single Major (Honours/Honours with Research) programmes.
  5. Students carrying pass marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with at least pass in five subjects (excluding Environmental Studies) are eligible to apply for Multidisciplinary programmes under CCFUP. Students from Vocational stream are eligible to apply for Multidisciplinary Studies only fulfilling the other criteria.
  6. Students who have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks in the Aggregate (to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in “Best Five’ subjects excluding Environment Studies) or 50% marks in the subject or related subject are eligible to apply for admission in the Honours course.
  7. Admission be done on merit basis and merit point for admission in honours course is to be calculated by adding 10% of total marks obtained in the Best Five subjects excluding Environment Studies at Higher Secondary / Equivalent examination and the marks obtained in the subject or related subject in which the admission in honours course is sought.
  8. Merit point for admission in Multidisciplinary course is to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in Best Five subjects excluding Environment Studies of Higher Secondary/equivalent examinations.
  9. If any student of Science stream in Higher Secondary /equivalent examination apply for honours course in Bengali /English, his /her merit point is to be calculated proportionately by deducting marks obtained in the practical examination.
  10. Any candidate seeking admission in Lab based subjects he /she must have obtained pass marks in those subjects /relevant subjects in H.S. level.
